Cleanroom Video Feed

[This video has no sound] Welcome to the 24-hour livestream video feed from inside the cleanroom at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab in Laurel, Maryland, where the IMAP spacecraft is being assembled. This is a live behind-the-scenes look at the integration and testing (I&T) for the spacecraft.

All of IMAP's 10 instruments have been fully integrated into the spacecraft frame. Engineers have also installed the spacecraft harness, electronics, communications systems, thermal systems, propulsion, batteries, and many more complex systems to make the spacecraft work. Finally, the spacecraft will be tested before being sent to NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center for final testing prior to launch.

The IMAP spacecraft is on camera in the cleanroom at John’s Hopkins APL. Instrument and electrical adjustments are being made post-vibration and shock testing. Blanketing has begun - fitting the protective thermal cover that will keep IMAP safe in the extreme environment of space.
