LASP's Role on the Mission
LASP leads the design and build of one of IMAP’s 10 instruments, Interstellar Dust Experiment (IDEX), and also houses the Science Operations Center (SOC). The SOC is responsible for all aspects of instrument operations including planning, commanding, health and status monitoring, anomaly response, and sustaining engineering for the instruments in their Payload Operations Center (POC). The SOC also includes a Science Data Center (SDC) that handles science data processing (data calibration, validation, and preliminary analysis) distribution, archiving, and maintaining the IMAP data management plan.
